Vinyl Siding Job in Greenwood Lake, NY
The homeowner was having work done on the home. They needed to have the siding installed which we were contacted for. Siding is important to the home because it acts as the first layer of defense against the elements. Especially during the winter, siding will help insulate the home from wind and reduce leakage of heat. Before installing the siding, we needed to first add house wrap throughout the outside of the home. While siding does a lot to help prevent the elements from entering the home, it isn’t perfect. House wrap acts as a second layer of protection. It’s able to dampen wind and prevent water from entering the home. House wrap also helps provide additional insulation to the home during the winter, keeping the heat inside. Flashing tape was used around windows and penetrations. It’s able to create a seal between the house wrap and these potential openings from the elements. Once the home was wrapped, siding was installed to finalize the project. In addition to protecting the home, siding can also allow the homeowner to choose the look of the home. There are a wide variety of materials that add to the customization possibilities. Metal, wood, and vinyl are among the materials available for siding. Wood can give a more of a rustic look. When using vinyl, you can decide how you want the outside of the home to look with a wide variety of colors and textures. If you want, you can even find vinyl siding with a wood shake texture in any color you’d like. In addition, vinyl siding will be resistant to mold and mildew, especially in more humid locations compared to wood siding. Although it may be more expensive, metal siding provides protections that wood and vinyl cannot. Metal siding is especially damage resistant since it’ll last better against hail or airborne debris. Also, in areas where it’s a concern, you can find metal siding that is fire resistant. Also, if necessary, metal siding is easily recyclable compared to other materials. The project took about 4 days to complete.
*Estimated Budget: $14,000
